HOW IT WORKS

Hit Play is becoming the official hub for live music reviews! We have built an incredible suite of tools for the hosts of some amazing music review shows, as well as the artists who visit them and share their music. The motivation behind the new Hit Play app is to make the process of uploading your music to a review show easier, purchasing line skips safer, and giving artists, hosts, and listeners a real-time experience showing the order of songs in line.

ARTISTS

1. UPLOAD MUSIC

Currently, you need an account to upload music to a room. Once you have registered (free) you can begin uploading music. Select upload music from your main profile page. Add your song name, the genre, a streaming link, and finally upload the file. Lastly select “Upload Song” to add it to your profile. Once you’ve uploaded the song, it will appear in “My Music” and underneath the queue in any room.

2. ENTER A ROOM

Head to the home page. This is where you will see a list of all the live shows. Simply click the button under the room you’d like to enter that reads “Enter Room”. At the bottom of the room, you will find your song library of music you have uploaded to your profile. Select “Enter” or “Skip” to put your song in the queue.

3. BUY SKIP CREDITS

You can buy skip credits by clicking the credit button in the top right of your profile, or you can enter a room, and click the “Get Skip Credits” at the bottom of the page.

4. SKIP AND SKIP+

There are 2 types of skips. You can skip and you can skip+. The amount of credits needed for a skip is determined by the host. And skip+ is always double the amount of credits as a skip. If you select to skip a song your entry will jump to the bottom of the skip line (in blue) but above of all non-skip entries. If you select to skip+, your entry will jump to the bottom of the skip+ line (in red) and above all non-skip entries and regular skip entries.

5. UNFINISHED QUEUES

If a host closes their room after you have spent credits for a skip or skip+, but before they have played your song, you will have your credits returned to your account.

HOSTS

1. GETTING APPROVED

If you want to be a host on Hit Play it’s super easy. First register for a Host account by visiting the home page and clicking the profile icon in the top right. Once you’ve been registered, fill out your settings with your social media accounts. We will review your account to see if you are a good candidate for hosting on Hit Play.

2. GO ON AIR

After your have been approved as a host for Hit Play, the center button on your profile directly under your photo will switch to “Go Live”. Press “Go Live” to enter your room and go On Air.

3. RUNNING THE QUEUE

Your room queue automatically sorts itself by the type of entry (normal, skip, or skip+) and in the order of first entered to most recent. To move a song from the queue to “Now Playing” simply tap on “Next Song”. This will open a play and pause button for the song, and place it above the queue in the “Now Playing” section. Continue to doing this to run your queue.

4. EARNINGS

As artists join your room and spend credits to skip the queue, you will earn those credits.

They will then be converted to $USD in your account. A credit costs the artist $1. You will earn that entire $1 for the 1 credit, minus the flat rate Paypal fee which is 5%. So for every 1 credit you earn, you’ll make $0.95. For a $5 skip you will earn $4.75 (5% of $5 is $0.25 > this is sent to Paypal). Hit Play does not make any money from hosts. We attach a small fee to the transaction of credit purchases on top of your set rate which Artists pay at the time of checkout.

5. CLOSE THE LINE

You can close the line of your queue to keep folks from entering any more songs. This is

recommended to do when you reach a point in your stream when you might be getting close to going offline. You can close the line by visiting the bottom of the room and tapping on “Close the line”.

6. GO OFF AIR - RETURNING CREDITS

When you are ready to go Off Air with your stream, go to the bottom of your room and select “Go Off Air”. This will return any credits to artists who did not have their skip or skip+ entries played.

7. ROOM SETTINGS

To modify the room settings visit your profile and go to “Settings”. On that page you will find the place to change the name of your room, adjust the skip and skip+ rate, add your social media links, and modify your login information.

8. GET PAID

Once you have $50 or more in your account, you can request to “Get Paid” from your profile. We will send you your earnings via a direct payment processor of your choice. This will happen outside of the app.

9. TAXES

Once you have reach $550 in earnings for a specific year – we will ask you for a W-2 or 1099 tax form. This will allow us to handle the appropriate tax forms for your earnings, making it simple for you to file your own taxes.

FINDING AMAZING ARTISTS ON THE APP

The best way to find amazing artists on our app is to visit any of the live rooms. From there you can stream the show and follow some new artists you’ve never heard of. The best part – you don’t even need an account!
